POSITIONING YOUR SPEAKERS
Here are some placement tips to help you get the best sound from your speakers.
Measure the distance from your listening
area to your speakers (Fig. 2, “X”). For
optimal imaging, place the speakers from
3/4 of that distance up to that same dis-
tance from each other. (3/4 “Xto “X”).
Turn the speakers slightly inward so they
point toward the listening area.
Place the center speaker either above or
on top of your TV. Position the speaker
flush with the front of the TV or shelf to
minimize unwanted sound reflections.
Your center speaker should be about the same distance away from the primary
listening position as the front speakers. (Some A/V receivers and processors can electronically
adjust for differences in distance.) If you are using Cinema™ speakers as surrounds, wall-mount
them or place them on stands behind the listening position. For the best performance possible,
keep them well above or well back from the listening area.
CONNECTING THE SPEAKERS
NOTE: Turn your amplifier off before
you connect your speakers to it.
Your speakers are equipped with binding
posts that can be used with banana,
pin or spade connectors, as well as with
bare wire.
Using high-quality speaker cable (see
dealer for more information), connect
one speaker at a time to your amplifier.
Connect the red (+) amplifier terminal to the red (+) speaker terminal and the black (-) to the
black (-). Tighten the posts firmly by hand, but don’t over-tighten them.
Turn your amplifier on and listen to your speakers. If you notice a complete lack of mid-bass and
a dislocated image, one or more of your speakers may be connected out-of-phase (their polarity
is reversed). Recheck to ensure that each speaker’s cable is connected with correct polarity: red
(+) to red (+) and black (-) to black (-).
